Rosemarie Thurston and Todd Lockwood Honored with Outstanding Service Award
ELLICOTT CITY, Md., Oct. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — The Investment Program Association (IPA) is proud to honor Mark Goldberg, Chairman of Carey Financial, LLC and President of Investment Management of W. P. Carey Inc., with its Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented at the IPAVision 2016 Conference with more than 450 Direct Investments industry leaders in attendance.
“Mark Goldberg has been a true leader and passionate advocate for the Direct Investments industry, and has demonstrated a tireless commitment to the IPA over a period of decades,” commented Tony Chereso, President and CEO of the IPA. “He has never wavered in bringing all parties together – particularly our regulatory and legislative leaders – in an effort to strengthen Direct Investment products on behalf of the investing public. It is truly an honor to recognize Mark for his ongoing contributions and leadership.”
“I am honored to receive the IPA Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Mr. Goldberg. “What makes this honor particularly special is that the inaugural award was given to W. P. Carey Founder Wm. Polk Carey.
I think Bill Carey always said it best. You can do good while doing well, and when you give back to an industry that has given you so much, there is nothing more rewarding. I believe this is exactly what we do at the IPA where we have developed something that is truly unique in the democratization of investing.
Because we care, we continue to raise the standards for the direct investments industry through our leadership, advocacy and education.”
Mr. Goldberg joined the IPA Board of Directors in 2010 and in 2014 was named Chairman. In January 2015, he assumed the role of IPA’s Chair Emeritus. Prior to his executive leadership positions at Carey Financial and W. P. Carey, Mr. Goldberg was President and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Alliance Associates, Inc., an independent broker-dealer and member of one of the nation’s largest networks of independent Financial Advisors. Before his successful tenure at Royal Alliance, Mr. Goldberg was Executive Vice President of SunAmerica Financial Network and served as President of SunAmerica’s securities affiliate in Tokyo.
Mr. Goldberg is a member of the Board of Directors of St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children and serves on its Executive Committee. He is a member of the Advisory Board for Simply Money, a Registered Investment Advisor and media company.

“The strength of the IPA comes directly from the engagement and volunteerism of its members, who are the key drivers of our association,” commented Tony Chereso. “Rosemarie and Todd are shining examples of members who give their time and talent to continuously move our industry forward. We are honored to present them with our Outstanding Service Award.”
About The Investment Program Association
The Investment Program Association (IPA) was formed in 1985 to provide effective national leadership for the direct investment industry. The IPA supports individual investor access to a variety of asset classes not correlated to the traded markets and historically available only to institutional investors. These include public non-listed REITs (NL REITs), business development companies (BDCs), energy and equipment leasing programs, and private equity offerings. For over 30 years the IPA has successfully championed the growth and improvement of such products, which have increased in popularity with financial professionals and investors alike. Direct investments are held in the accounts of nearly 3 million individual investors, and the IPA’s member companies operate or have properties in all 50 states. Today these investment products function as a critical component of effectively diversified investment portfolios and serve an essential capital formation function for the US economy. The mission of the IPA is advocating direct investments through education. Access the wealth of IPA educational materials here, or visit the IPA online for more information about becoming a member.
