As most of you know, the IPA has been engaged in a strategic review of how to better serve our members and the industry, resulting in our board-led strategic plan that was unveiled during IPAVision 2019. One outcome of this process is to expand our Policy & Government Affairs Committee (P&GA), which will now encompass our Legal & Regulatory Committee and Compliance Committee.
After soliciting nominations in December, the IPA is proud to announce that Mark Quinn, Director of Regulatory Affairs at Cetera Financial Group, and Seth Hertlein, Executive Director and Assistant General Counsel at FS Investments, will join Jason Goode, Partner at Alston & Bird, as joint chairs of our newly structured P&GA Committee.
The leadership of Mark, Seth and Jason represent a strategic repositioning for the P&GA Committee to represent IPA’s three membership classes, including our distribution partners, asset managers and industry partners. Each individual has demonstrated unwavering commitment to advancing industry initiatives at their individual firms and as IPA members.
Additionally, on behalf of the entire IPA community we’d like to thank Kamal Jafarnia, Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel at Artivest, for his support and dedication as outgoing chair of the committee. Kamal played a critical role in effecting change and advancing important advocacy issues, and the IPA is grateful for his commitment.
Lastly, thank you to all those who participated in this year’s Policy & Government Affairs Strategic Planning Retreat in Scottsdale, AZ.
