Institute for Portfolio Alternatives Names Megan Gavin Director, Strategic Partnerships.

The 15-year industry veteran joins from Ashford Securities, where she led national accounts

WASHINGTON, January 13, 2021 – The Institute for Portfolio Alternatives (IPA) today announced that Megan Gavin has joined the association as Director, Strategic Partnerships. In this role, she will lead business development and membership engagement, in addition to supporting strategic planning and the execution of critical association initiatives.

A 15-year industry trailblazer, Gavin joins the IPA from Ashford Securities, where she was the second hire at the firm as Head of National Accounts. Prior to her role at Ashford Securities, Gavin held various account management and business development positions throughout the industry at leading firms, including Starwood Capital, Carey Financial and Hines.

“Megan is well-versed in our industry’s evolution and her extensive background positions her well to guide member engagement and business development,” Tony Chereso, President and Chief Executive Officer of the IPA, said. “Her understanding of product structures, distribution, and the various roles industry partners such as law firms, custodians and technology platforms play in the alternative investments marketplace will make Megan a critical asset when it comes to supporting the IPA community.”

Gavin’s role combines member engagement and business development with the IPA’s other priority initiatives, including education, advocacy and thought leadership. She will lead the association’s efforts to strategically grow membership, cultivate existing relationships within the IPA community and ensure the highest level of quality in the association’s conferences, webinars, thought leadership and other components of membership engagement.

A resident of Dallas, Texas, Gavin holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities licenses. She completed her CFP certification program at Rice University and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas A&M University.
