Frank McCarthy Earns Lifetime Achievement Award
The Institute for Portfolio Alternatives is proud to honor four members with service awards for their ongoing demonstration of exceptional leadership within our association and an unmatched dedication of time and effort to the advancement of portfolio diversifying investments.
IPA Honors Franks McCarthy with Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to an individual who has accumulated a body of work in line with our Guiding Principles throughout their career and made significant contributions to the betterment of our industry.
This year, we are proud to present Frank McCarthy with this honor. Frank spent the last 16 years of his career leading the alternative investment platform at Ameriprise Financial. In his role as senior vice president and general manager, he worked tirelessly for our association and industry alike. After a well-established career, Frank announced his retirement earlier this year, effective August 31, 2021.
“Frank McCarthy reflects the best of our industry and is the embodiment of our association’s guiding principles,” said Tony Chereso, President and CEO of the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives. “Over his tenure with Ameriprise Financial and his time spent on our Board of Directors, he advocated for a strong control and compliance environment that led to new due diligence procedures to ensure the selection of high-quality investment solutions from financially sound companies. He has been a champion of our industry both within Ameriprise Financial and out.”
IPA Recognizes Three Members with Outstanding Service Award
Outstanding Service Awards recognizes individual members who dedicate themselves to improving our industry for the benefit of all. This year, we recognize Dan Wagner, David Fisher and Jason Goode with this honor.
Dan Wagner, senior vice president of government relations at The Inland Real Estate Group, LLC, will end an active three-year term on the Board of Directors this year. During his tenure, Dan was instrumental in launching the IPA PAC and worked tirelessly to highlight the benefits of Section 1031 on a national stage in light of challenges posed by the American Families Plan in 2021.
Another staunch advocate for Section 1031, our industry and the IPA, David Fisher, managing partner at ExchangeRight, has been on the front lines of ongoing lobbying and grassroots efforts to protect the benefits that 1031 like-kind exchanges provide investors. Over the past year, he has driven outreach campaigns alongside a coalition of industry organizations and has personally met with key members of the Senate Finance and the House Ways and Means Committees to advocate for the preservation of this important piece of tax code.
Finally, Jason Goode, partner at Alston & Bird LLP, will complete his term as the co-chair of the Policy, Regulatory & Legal Affairs Committee. In this role, Jason has been integral in developing and implementing our association’s policy advocacy priorities. He has volunteered countless hours, serving both as the co-chair as well as an active participant in task forces and working groups within the Committee.
