Keynote Presentation: Greg Davies, Head of Behavioural Finance, Oxford Risk

IPA is excited to announce that Greg Davies, Head of Behavioural Science at Oxford Risk, will be our keynote speaker for IPAVision. Greg will highlight the role behavioral finance plays in raising more capital by addressing the inherent human biases and emotional factors that influence investment decisions. While traditional finance models assume rational behavior, in reality, investors often make decisions based on emotions. What comforts, fascinates, or animates one investor with confidence may concern, frustrate or confuse another. In his presentation, Greg will detail how understanding cognitive biases and incorporating investors’ behavior patterns into financial strategies can help businesses and financial professionals personalize communications to appeal to individual investor sentiments, improve investor decision-making and strengthen investing fortitude. Ultimately, behavioral finance provides a more holistic understanding of investor habits and nature, allowing companies to navigate capital markets more effectively.

Navigating the Fractured Landscape: Insights into Social Investing and Conduct Standards

Join us for an engaging panel discussion as we delve into the regulatory swings surrounding social investing and distribution conduct standards. For over three decades, policymakers have been engaged in regulatory projects creating new standards for the consideration of ESG factors in retirement investments. Similarly, states, the SEC, and the DOL have all repeatedly issued new rules for the care standards for rollovers and for product sales to retail investors. Most recently, both the Trump and Biden administrations have issued their own contradictory rules in each area, become engulfed in litigation, signaling that further changes are on the horizon. Expert panelists will shed light on the reasons behind the ongoing legal whipsaw, the implications of recent litigation, and what you can do to remain in compliance. We will do a deep dive into the future outlook on both the ESG and fiduciary fronts, and discuss whether the industry is on the path towards a workable and stable compliance structure.
