Examination of Private Credit Markets
Covid 19 brought renewed volatility to the credit markets in the Spring of 2020 commensurate with an unprecedented drop in interest rates led in large part by the Federal Reserve’s actions. With the economy starting to recover, this panel examined the current and future state of the credit markets. Is it still possible to deploy capital prudently given that many corporate credits have seen a deterioration in the strength of their balance sheets? What would it look like in real life if a large number of deals need to be restructured? This panel focused on the benefits of evolving credit product structures and where the best investment opportunities are today.

Transformational Thinking – How D&I and ESG Produce Better Business Outcomes
Once an afterthought, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives – inclusive of deliberate efforts to foster greater Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) – have proven to have a positive, material impact on businesses. Businesses worldwide continue to push for greater D&I and seek opportunities to build ESG priorities into their daily operations, yet progress is slow and meaningful change lags.
Ariel Investments Chairman John Rogers Jr. is an early pioneer in ESG investing, who is today known for his ability to influence change with a proactive ESG agenda. On top of his industry-leading investment process, his own firm has set the standard with its approach to its people, proving an emphasis on D&I translates to better outcomes.
Hear directly from Rogers, who transformed his company and community by putting demonstrative action behind his words. This session evaluated how the financial services industry has embraced ESG and D&I over the past few decades and what the industry should focus on to achieve better outcomes for all stakeholders.
