IPA announced three new roundtables as a part of a robust agenda for IPA Summit 2024. Taking place this May 1-3, 2024, in Washington, D.C., the event is the premier gathering to discuss the intersection of business, regulatory and policy issues ahead of the alternative investments industry.

Leading off our roundtable discussions, IPA will welcome Tara M. Sinclair, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Macroeconomics in the Office of Economic Policy, U.S. Department of Treasury for a discussion on the department’s macroeconomic outlook.

A full list of the conversations are listed below, and you can also take in the full summit agenda by clicking the link here: https://ipa.com/summit2024/#agenda

Roundtable with the Department of Treasury, A Conversation on the Macroeconomic Outlook

  • The strong recovery from the Covid recession resulted from unprecedented policy action that brought the United States from an unemployment rate that peaked at nearly 15 percent in April of 2020 to an over 50-year low of 3.4 percent by January of 2023. But there is more work to do.  Our economy can continue to create more and better jobs with the right investments. This talk will provide an overview of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s macroeconomic outlook.  Dr. Tara M. Sinclair will discuss some of the context and economic thinking behind the policies used in the recent economic recovery and where the economy stands today.  She will then turn to the longer-term macroeconomic outlook, specifically focusing on modern supply-side policies that can grow the economy in the long run.
    • Speakers: Tara M. Sinclair, U.S. Department of Treasury

This session will give participants the opportunity to have a candid conversation on how distribution partner firms work best with portfolio diversifying investments, and to discuss key topics including business, operating, regulatory and legal issues. This a closed-door meeting for executives and home office personnel of wire houses, national, regional independent broker-dealers and RIAs.

Additionally, we will be joined by policy experts from Mindset DC, the IPA’s partner, and a preeminent public policy firm, as well as the IPA’s expert legal consultants.  Prepare to deepen your understanding of critical issues into the following areas: (i) tax changes ahead of a potential 2025 tax legislative package, (ii) the evaluation of legislative measures aimed at enhancing capital markets, and (iii) regulatory considerations surrounding the accredited investor definition. Moreover, (iv) we will assess the opportunities that lie within the 401(k) markets and consider potential threats and implications for retirement savers’ access to alternative investments.
