Keynote — A Look at DOL’s Rapidly Changing Regulatory Landscape with Lisa Gomez: U.S. Department of Labor

During this conversation, we will cover a wide range of issues from SECURE 2.0 implementation to DOL’s stance on cryptocurrency, brokerage windows, and alternative investments in a defined contribution plan or QDIA, to the newly proposed rulemaking that everyone is talking about – the Fiduciary Rule governing investment advice. The DOL has certainly kept benefit practitioners busy over the last few months and May is the Administration’s unofficial deadline to finalize all of these rules, so this discussion will come at a critical time. Roundtable with the Department of Treasury, A Conversation on the Macroeconomic Outlook
The strong recovery from the Covid recession resulted from unprecedented policy action that brought the United States from an unemployment rate that peaked at nearly 15 percent in April of 2020 to an over 50-year low of 3.4 percent by January of 2023. But there is more work to do.  Our economy can continue to create more and better jobs with the right investments. This talk will provide an overview of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s macroeconomic outlook.  Dr. Tara M. Sinclair will discuss some of the context and economic thinking behind the policies used in the recent economic recovery and where the economy stands today.  She will then turn to the longer-term macroeconomic outlook, specifically focusing on modern supply-side policies that can grow the economy in the long run.
