IPA Statement on Nomination of Representative Lori Chavez-DeRemer to Serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor

Recently, the IPA released a statement regarding the appointment of U.S. Representative Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR) to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor. The statement below is attributable to Anya Coverman, IPA President & CEO.

“IPA congratulates Representative Chavez-DeRemer on her nomination to lead the Department of Labor and looks forward to working with the Department’s new leadership. The Congresswoman’s dynamic background will no doubt enhance our nation’s workforce and support Americans saving for retirement. To that end, the IPA urges the DOL to reexamine its current Fiduciary Rule, which does not accurately reflect the changing and innovative nature of the regulated investment industry. Consumer choice and access to sound investor advice are paramount, and the IPA stands ready to support the DOL as it considers rulemaking that will help Americans reach their retirement goals.”
